You guys don't have to wait until next week to get part 2...here it is:
After seeing The Color Purple and walking down Broadway I meet up with "The Deep One" She's in her MINICOOPER! I have never rode in one of these itty bitty cars so the experience was fun. I notice in New York you must obey every traffic rule that you studied in that book, because if you don't you surely would be ran over! I guess even you don't the probability of getting ran over is still high. Im glad Dee was driving, I was observing some situations where I would straight panic. I'm a punk.
Our first stop was Ground Zero. I cannot describe how I felt while I was in that area. It was sort of surreal, I could only imagine the chaos that was occurring there 6 years ago. Dee told me stories of people that lived the traumatic event as we walked, we even came to the CROSS, which was the part of the WTC building that left some hope and was a miracle within itself.
Harlem was next, I got to see the Apollo...that was ultimately cool and shop in the flagship store Carol's Daughter. I had about 4 things in my hand that I was about to buy, then I put them all down cause I couldn't decide on which items I needed the most. Ill just go online and order when I get my mind right. I settled on this sample of a Chocolate scented body butter. I need to try it on a victim to see the results before purchase.
We dined at Melba's, relative of Sylvia's where there are great eats for us to enjoy. Dee had a pecan crusted talipia, with garlic mashed potatoes and greens that looked DEE-FLIPPIN-LISH! I had chicken and waffles but wait!! RED VELVET CAKE w/a birthday candle!!! As you can tell from all 32 teeth showing in the pic, I was stoked! Melba's was a beautiful little (and I do mean little!) spot and we had great conversation about Lance, life, and all things that are loved.
Next up on the birthday roller coaster was the DEN for drinks and dudes. I noticed this bar sat next to an AME church. Although reluctant, I went in. It seemed as this was going to be a one way ticket if things got outta control. Only in New York, and perhaps Chicago would your see a bar next to a church. I could be wrong, I think that has got to be in any hood. When we first got there it was just drinks because the females were on overload. Dee invited her friend Geri along for the party, the more the merrier!!! Patron shots for everybody. Lick, slam, Lime...I always forget the order. New York's finest rolled through the door (not the police, men I tell ya!) a little later. A few shots later I was next to the DJ that was spinning the 1's and 2's. Did I tell you I was jammin? The barista knew how to make a drink like a pro, we had some martinis that were tasty. I told Mr. Jeff, the young man with a head full of grey hair, that it was my birthday and I asked what do I get. He told me drinks and kisses! I wanted my kiss first, so he slapped a juicy one on my cheek...that was awesome. I think I wanna be next to him for the rest of the night. I couldn't do that cause I was makin it rain on them hoes that were at the bar behind me. Dude said he was a stripper, Geri and I wanted to see. He danced a little I laughed. More drinks for everyone! Where was Dee at the time? I dunno..Geri and I made it rain.
Gerri's boyfriend came by after work...He was driving a big ole Excursion...okay at this point I really don't remember what happened. Keys were lost, I found them. The events in between were a blur.
The next I remember was going back to my hotel and those flippin yahoo directions that got us mixed up. Dee doesn't often travel that far out and we kinda got lost, and the directions didn't make any sense. But we made it and said our goodbyes, it was fun and I know Im coming back. Dee showed me the church she attends and instead of making it rain I was going to get my praise on.
